Veneers are a common procedure that is preferred by patients because it is versatile yet affordable. It can be used to:
It should be noted that placing veneers is an irreversible process.
Veneers take two appointments to be placed. During your first visit to New Essence Dentistry, a local anesthetic will be applied to numb the teeth being treated. They will have a small portion of the enamel removed to create room for the veneers to fit. An impression will then be made of the teeth to be sent to a dental laboratory where the veneers will be created. At the end of the first appointment, your dentist will place temporary veneers onto the prepared teeth.
Veneers usually take about two to four weeks to be completed. You will return to our office in Sacramento to have the temporary veneers removed. The permanent veneers will be placed onto the teeth to check for the fit before they are permanently bonded. After they have been attached and cured (hardened), excess cement will be removed and your dentist will check the fit of the veneers again to make adjustments as needed.
Once they have been bonded to the teeth, veneers are practically unnoticeable, but they do not make your teeth impermeable. They can chip or fracture, so overly hard or crunchy foods should be avoided, as well as chewing on non-food items, such as pen caps. Veneers are stain-resistant, but it is advisable to limit foods and beverages that may stain or discolor them such as coffee, tea, or red wine. With proper usage and care, you should be able to enjoy your veneers for many years.
